Bhal Nalkantha Khadi Gramodyog Mandal is a Khadi institution located in Ranpur, Botad District of Gujarat, India. This Institute’s Vision is to provide employment to the local women by involving them into the work of spinning, handloom weaving, hand knitting, Dyeing and stitching of woolen khadi products. The institiution is certified by the KVIC(Khadi and Village Industries Commission).
Bhal Nalkantha Khadi Gramodyog Mandal was established by Ambubhai Shah, Harivallabhhai Mehta, Dajibhai Dabhi, Chaturbhai Patel with the blessings of Jain Muni Shri Santbalji in 1958.
The institution has provided the residential facility to their employees with a minimum rent for 100 sq. yards of land. For this initiation HDFC had lent loan for the institution at 7% interest rate. The institution is providing Travelling and medical allowances, insurance scheme, Artisan welfare fund and many other beneficiary schemes from KVIC for the employee.
Bhal Nalkantha Khadi Gramodyog Mandal is a only woolen khadi institution in Gujarat. The parent organization of this institution is Bundi Aashram based near Bagodra Taluka of Ahmedabad which is called as Swa-Shala.
Bhal Nalkantha Khadi Gramodyog Mandal was established in 1958 with blessings of Jain Muni sant Balji who was engaged in the social work for unemployed women and the Backward class of the society in Ranpur.
He also believed in the concept of self dependent and spread awareness about it. He also awarded by Bharat Ratna in Ajmer for the social and economic development. He started social work with the focus of Indian villages condition in terms of Education, Economy and Social status.
This institution was started with the aim of women empowerment and empowering the backward class of the Bhal region of Gujarat. He worked for welfare of Mal community of Ranpur. The women of this community worked from home for the spinning as they were not allowed to go out for work.
Babubhai Patel, Chief minister of Gujarat in 1976 was requested to start khadi instituton in Bhal region of Gujarat with aim of educational, health and social welfare. Naval bhai shah was the first chairman of the Bhal Nalkantha Khadi Gramodyog Mandal.
The Unique selling Point of this Khadi institution is a woolen Khadi. This is a only institution who is producing woolen Khadi in Gujarat. They are working with the woolen material to produce Woolen woven and knitted Khadi products. They are practicing this woolen khadi production from last 63 years. Many employees of the Institution were trained under the Ahmedabad Management Association(AMA) for the skill development.
They are producing Apparel and Home Products for different brands. The Apparel and fashion accessories includes Jersey, Jackets, Socks, Gloves, Cap, Waist coat, Mufflers, Stoles, Shawls, etc. For Home Products they are working on Woolen Blankets.
